Just a reminder that we can all pitch in to keep our neighbourhood clean. Remember to use the garbage bins around the community and pick up any garbage that you see. Dog owners please pick up after your pets!

Crosswalk at 9th Ave and 81 Street
There have been concerns over the crosswalk at this intersection and we have inquired with the city about installing a pedestrian crossing signal here. The city has a score based system to see whether or not a signal is required. You can see their score sytem by clicking here. Our intersection has received a score of 22 out of 80. Repainting is scheduled for early August, here is the link to the repainting.

The long-awaited work to remove the waterfall is set to begin very soon!
The City of Calgary has awarded the contract for removal of the West Park waterfall and re-landscaping of that area. You should expect to see construction fencing and equipment in the next few days with work scheduled to begin the week of May 4th (weather permitting). Access to the pathways may be impacted during the construction (estimated to take about 7-days). The following document shows plans and the original draft plans that WPRA received in Sept 2014 from the City of Calgary.

In 2013 & 2014 there were some upgrades to our community, here are a few worth mentioning:
Christmas planters
November 26, 2014: Foothills Landscaping was by to install some beautiful festive greenery in our traffic circle planters.
Tree replacement on 81st street
On June 25th and 26th, 2014 new trees were planted by Blue Grass along 81 street, replacing some dead trees.
Entrance Sign Flowers
The Entrance sign on 9th Ave had the old shrubs removed in 2013 and annuals were planted. Since then Foothills Landscaping also planted some new shrubs, perennials and annuals here each summer to give our entrance sign a new look.
Traffic Circle Facelift
In the summer of 2013 Foothills Landscaping added new bark mulch to the traffic circle on 81st street. In the spring of 2014 the old shrubs were removed and new planters arrived. New shrubs, perennials and annuals were planted in June.
Dog Bag Dispensers, new bark mulch and firecut around the pond
In 2013 we saw the addition of three dog bag dispensers in the neighbourhood. They have been placed at convenient locations around the sidewalks and close to garbage cans in an effort to keep the community clean. Also the grass around the pond will be kept trimmed in a "firecut" including the southside of the pond. In the summer of 2013 new bark much was added to the island beds around the pond.
